A little bit about me
So......... Who am I?
As a qualified counsellor, I bring fresh and contemporary knowledge and approaches to my practice. My counselling journey began after being profoundly transformed by my own experiences with therapy.
I specialize in building strong therapeutic relationships and creating a safe space for clients to explore what matters most.
I work integratively and draw on many types of therapy to tailor the approach to what you need either online, in person or a walk-and-talk session
Qualifications
I have a first-class BA (Hons) from the University of South Wales and my membership body (BACP) requires I engage in regular Continued professional development (CPD). This enables me to keep up to date on learning and keeps my knowledge fresh and up to date.
As mentioned, I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Being a member means I adhere to their ethical framework and can assure you I am committed to adhering to this to work as safely as possible.
Equally, if you have any issues you can contact them for advice on the best ways to proceed, and if necessary can register any complaints with them. Please feel free to check their website for further information.
I am DBS checked to work with adults and children, have current insurance and I am registered with the ICO for data protection matters.
My approach
I practice pluralistic therapy, which recognizes that no single therapy is superior. Different people need different things at different times. By working collaboratively, we can identify what to focus on in therapy, considering each client’s unique preferences and needs. Key elements of my ethos include collaboration, autonomy, client agency, and recognizing the client as the expert in their own life.
Integrative practice
My training spans a range of therapeutic modalities, including:
- Person-Centred
- Therapy Psychodynamics
- Transactional Analysis
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Motivational Interviewing
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Gestalt Therapy
- Compassion-Focused Therapy
- Existential
- Creative Counselling
- Stabilisation and Grounding Techniques
I draw from these approaches to tailor our work to your preferences and needs.
Trauma-informed and neurodivergent aware
I am trauma-informed and stay updated with the latest neuroscience research. As a neurodivergent individual, I have personal experience with the challenges this can bring. I can accommodate various needs within sessions, such as adjusting lighting, positioning, and eye contact, while also helping you navigate and understand these challenges to find your strengths and resources.
Creative therapy
I enjoy incorporating creative methods into therapy, such as art interventions, music, photography, and any special interests you may have. Therapy doesn’t always have to be an intense conversation; it can also involve making, drawing, playing, or walking in nature. However, creativity can be intimidating for some, so we’ll work in a way that feels right for you.
